Google searching tips for UK sites

You can limit google health to UK sites by using google’s site searching facility – adding the term site:uk after your search term:
eg  diabetes site:uk

LIMITED SITE SEARCHES WITH GOOGLE

Limit google results to NHS sites only by using the ordinary version of
google. Type  site:nhs.uk after your search term. This is better than the
google powered search as you can see the cached pages if the page isn’t available

LIMITING GOOGLE TO ‘OFFICIAL’ UK INFO

Use these terms together with your term: site:nhs.uk OR site:ac.uk OR
site:gov.uk

To semi automate this: Add 3 spaces before the first site.., run the search (& ignore the content!) and then save the results page as a favorite. When you click on the favorite again you’ll get the results page. Just add your term to the gap at the start of the search string and run it again

SEARCHING FOR PATIENT INFO

This search string restricts google to 7 good patient info sites:
                                                                                                                              site:besttreatments.co.uk OR site:patient.co.uk OR site:gpnotebook.co.uk
OR site:www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk OR site:cks.library.nhs.uk OR site:omni.ac.uk OR site:labtestsonline.org.uk

Again leave 3 spaces to start with and save results as a favorite – on links
bar if you want it really handy.
