Specialist Library for Surgery, Theatres & Anaesthesia

The Specialist Library for Surgery, Theatres & Anaesthesia, an easily accessible and up-to-date collection of evidence-based guidance, practical websites and patient information, is now available from the National Library for Health website. The Library aims to support the information needs of everyone in the theatre team. Its scope includes all resources relating to perioperative management, cutting across the medical specialties and emphasising important topics such as infection control and patient safety. It is managed by a project team based at The Royal College of Surgeons of England, along with clinical partners from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and Morecambe Bay NHS Trust; the latter being involved in an information needs assessment for theatre staff which has fed into the project. The Library is a work in progress, and its future development and value depend on feedback from its users. The testing phase has begun so if you have any comments about the site or suggestions for resources please email us at speclib@rcseng.ac.uk
